Tatami Rooms & Futons
Inn Kawashima offers rooms with tatami (woven straw) floors, low furniture, and seating cushions. Each room includes Japanese futon bedding, air conditioning, an LCD TV, and free Wi-Fi. Shoji sliding paper screens separate the living area from the sleeping area. Bathroom facilities are shared.
Gion Neighborhood Access
The inn is located in Gion, Kyoto's historic district known for Edo-period culture and traditional arts. Studio Shiki, nearby, rents period-style garments for men, women, and children. Landmarks within walking distance include Nishiki Market (1 km), Yasaka Shrine (2 km), and Nijo Castle (2 km).
Shared Bathing Etiquette
Guests use separate changing rooms before entering the shared bathing area. The shower is shared, and doors to the changing area can be locked. Late returns after 11 pm require prior arrangement.

A cozy and comfortable stay. I loved the traditional feel and the amazing location. I would return!
The room had a great feel, immersing me in Japanese life. It was very comfortable and neat.
The staff was extremely helpful, assisting with luggage and always willing to help.
Close to main attractions and many restaurants. Very easy to get around from there.
I didn't try the Inn's breakfast, but the area had many great choices!
The shared bathroom was fine; never had to wait. Everything was clean and well-maintained.

My first Ryokan experience, and it was wonderful! The little garden was a highlight.
Loved the attention to detail; welcome biscuits and tea were a perfect touch. Room warmed up quickly with AC.
The owner was very friendly and accommodating.
Great location, close to Gion and Nishiki Market.
Didn't try the inn's meals, but the location had plenty of options!

Absolutely adorable inn! The futons were surprisingly comfy, and the staff were amazing!
Gorgeous room! Spacious and the futons were surprisingly comfortable. Daily towel changes were a plus!
Such a cute inn with very caring staff! They were so kind and helpful.
Well located near lots of activities! Easy to get around from there.
We ate elsewhere, but the location made finding food easy.
Bathroom was large and spotless. Everything was very clean.

My family and I had a wonderful time. The traditional style was charming, and the location was perfect for exploring Kyoto!
Spacious room, though the shared bathroom was a bit of an adventure. The futons were comfortable enough for a couple of nights.
The staff were incredibly helpful, letting us store our luggage after checkout. A nice touch!
Downtown location, super convenient to public transport. We walked everywhere!
We didn't have meals at the inn, but there was a great bakery right next door!
Good A/C, quiet, and a small garden inside! The little tea and biscuits were a nice welcome.
